چکیده

Methods Consecutive patients with biopsy proven extracardiac sarcoidosis or suspected isolated cardiac sarcoidosis were prospectively recruited. Patients with history of cardiac surgery, heart transplant, documented coronary artery disease, congenital heart disease were excluded. Of the 251 meeting criteria, 231 participants were enrolled (18 declined consent, 2 were minors) underwent CMR, and followed for 2.7±2.2 years for major adverse cardiac events (cardiac death, appropriate defibrillator shock, pacemaker placement, or heart transplantation). CMR images were analyzed by a consensus of two experienced readers who where blinded to all other data.

Presence of Late Gadolinium Enhancement by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Among Patients With Suspected Cardiac Sarcoidosis Is Associated With Adverse Cardiovascular Prognosis: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

BACKGROUND Individuals with cardiac sarcoidosis have an increased risk of ventricular arrhythmia and death. Several small cohort studies have evaluated the ability of late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to predict adverse cardiovascular events. However, studies have yielded inconsistent results, and some analyses were underpowered. Therefore, we sought ...

Cardiovascular magnetic resonance-guided diagnosis of cardiac affection in a Caucasian sarcoidosis population.

BACKGROUND Clinically evidenced cardiac involvement in systemic sarcoidosis occurs in approximately 5% of patients, whereas post-mortem examinations identify cardiac sarcoidosis in over 60% of cases. OBJECTIVE Given the inconsistency of diagnostic approaches, we took aim at prospectively investigating the prevalence of cardiac sarcoidosis by cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) in a primar...

The utility of delayed-enhancement magnetic resonance imaging for identifying nonischemic myocardial fibrosis in asymptomatic patients with biopsy-proven systemic sarcoidosis.

BACKGROUND The pathophysiology of sarcoidosis includes infiltrative inflammatory injury, as well as interstitial fibrosis formation. Delayed-enhancement (DE) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques have been shown to identify fibrotic tissue as areas of hyperenhancement. To test the hypothesis that DE-MRI can be used to identify myocardial fibrosis resulting from cardiac sarcoidosis, we ass...

Relationship between Late Gadolinium Enhancement Extent in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Severity of Coronary Artery Disease in Old Myocardial Infarction

Purpose: To assess the relationship between the severity of coronary arteries involvement and the extent and pattern of myocardial scars in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance of patients with history of remote myocardial infarction. Materials and Methods: The Cardiac Magnetic Resonance images of sixty patients with history of remote ST segment or non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction were ...

Comprehensive Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Assessment in Patients With Sarcoidosis and Preserved Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction.

BACKGROUND Cardiac sarcoidosis (CS) may manifest as arrhythmia or even sudden cardiac death. Because patients with CS often present with nonspecific symptoms, normal electrocardiography, and preserved left ventricular ejection fraction, a reliable diagnostic tool for the work-up of CS is needed. Late gadolinium enhancement-cardiovascular magnetic resonance has proven diagnostic value in CS but ...
